Working with the rangers of Khao Yai National Park, in Wang Nam Khiao, you will learn about the damaging effects of deforestation and the ongoing efforts to protect the wildlife. Some of the tasks on the project are seasonal, for example the wet season is the best time of year to plant new trees. In contrast, the best time to add salt to the soil is during the dry season.
Therefore, your activities on the project will depend on the season as well as the priorities of the rangers. However, you can be sure that you will play an active role with the tasks you are assigned. Located in the western Sankamphaeng Mountain Range, the Khao Yai National Park spans across Central Thailand, through several provinces.
It is home to over 3000 plant species, 32 species of birds and 66 types of mammals. In addition, the site is also home to magnificent mountains and beautiful waterfalls, such as Heo Suwat, famously featured in the film “The Beach”. As well as working hard on site, you will be taken on visits to explore the surrounding landscapes.
