The main island of Palawan is long, narrow and contains a multitude of fisherman villages. It is in these fisherman villages where we offer our program through which the participants will have the opportunity to get close to the local Palawan people and their practices. The people of Palawan are friendly and are very welcoming to foreigners.
The basic income of the local people of Palawan is very low. Most people don't have any form of (higher) education and therefore support themselves by working in the traditional professions of the region which are fishing and farming (agriculture).
Participants will assist local villagers when they go out fishing, repairing their fishing tools and making fish products. You will also assist the villagers in the fields with the planting of rice and vegetables, cutting of rice and vegetables and other activities around farming. The particular activities carried out will depend a lot on the weather and the season.
