As an intern on the project, you will make an active contribution to tourism development in central Thailand. Working in conjunction with the Thai government, the project guarantees you a practical, learning orientated, meaningful experience as you help to make the area more attractive for both native and international tourists.
Putting into practice the hours of theoretical and classroom based studies you have already undertaken, you will be building on your existing skills and developing new ones. You will be supervised by an English-speaking coordinator who will help you to overcome any language barriers, at the same time as guiding and assessing your work. Although the project is designed for participants with a background in tourism, those with an economic background would be suitable due to the financial aspects of the program.
Similarly, students of sociology or anthropology are invited to assess the impact the project has on the local area and its social development. Applications are also welcome from students who believe that it would be useful for their thesis, research papers or dissertation.
Itinerary
As the program is dependent on where you are assigned, an exact schedule of your internship will be given to you at your placement. However, you can expect to work between 25-30 hours each week, from Monday to Friday. Occasionally, you may be asked to work weekends.
Start Dates
Projects start on a Monday, however you should arrive over the weekend on either Saturday or Sunday.
