The schools operate a non-formal approach to teaching. We do not have to follow the local Thai teaching methods or style, so teachers will be free to use their own, preferred style of teaching and may bring their own ideas to the classroom. In addition, the subjects taught are subject to change, depending on current activities in the schools. The syllabus might include, for example, environmental issues or reflect the current festivals.
The teaching program serves a dual purpose; it gives children in rural Thailand the chance to speak English, something their teachers cannot do; and secondly it gives the volunteers an insight into the Thai education system. As an additional bonus, it will give volunteers the chance to become friends with students and teachers.
