Surin is an area of Thailand which is home to hundreds of elephants, a lot of which need daily care and attention. By joining this project you will be working with around 30 elephants helping with the daily routine working alongside local Thai staff and the elephant careers known locally as mahoots. You will learn a lot about the Thai culture and elephants on these projects which are very hands on and also a lot of fun!
Tasks can include:
- Helping local staff
- Cleaning enclosures
- Collecting food - elephants have a big appetite
- Working on educational material
- Hands on work with large and baby elephants
- Washing and cleaning the elephants
Eligibility
- Must be eligible for a Thai tourist visa
- Need to be open to living and working in a new environment
- Need to be aged 18+ or 17+ for the special summer program
- Good health
