Our trips combine rugged international travel, volunteer service work in local communities, homestays with families in each country visited, and exciting outdoor adventures.
Youth International is accredited by the Gap Year Association and affiliated with Western Colorado University.
The goal of this experiential learning program is for team members to learn about the culture by living it themselves. Teams of fourteen peers between the ages of 18 and 25 travel together with two group leaders. For a full 3-month semester, they explore the cultures of three countures through a wide range of immersive activities and experiences.
Through a balanced combination of experiences, each Youth International team member is set up for an intense and dynamic first-hand education about the region in which they are traveling. At the same time, they are presented with a unique environment and opportunity for self-discovery.
Programs are offered in the Fall (September to December) and Spring (February to May). The Asia program visits Nepal, India, and Thailand. The South America program visits Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, and the Galapagos Islands. All programs begin with a group orientation session at a camp in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.
